X-MAS HANDICAP 20/12/09
The threat of 10cms of snow plus numerous icy patches didn’t put off several hardy
Xmas handicappers in Glen Nevis. Firstly Linus, Erin and Johnny won their respective
kids races before the adults lined up for the start. A couple of shopping bikes proved to
be ideally unsuited to the treacherous conditions. Gear selection was critical – once
you set off in a gear that was you as there was no way the so-an-so would change
under all that snow and ice. The tandem two powered back first on the handicap
system with Alastair just leading Joe across the line in a sketchy slide. Joe swore that
he would have got him if he hadn’t been distracted by some liquorice allsorts just under
a bush on the way out. Everyone enjoyed themselves which was remarkable in itself
given the conditions. Thanks to Corina and Jesse for all their hard work in setting the
course out and completing registration.
